Puff The Magic Dragon Lyrics

The texts of “Puff the Magic Dragon" is based on a 1959 poem written by Leonard Lipton, a nineteen year’s old Cornell student. Lipton is inspired by an Ogden Nash poem titled "Custard the Dragon" on realia A ", Trulia little pet dragon." Lipton passed his poem about a friend and fellow Cornell student Peter Yarrow, who created music and more text for the poem in the song.

This lyrics tell a story of the ageless dragon Puff and his partner Jackie Paper, a child grow up and lose interest in the imaginary adventures of childhood and leaves Puff alone and depressed. The story of the song takes place "at sea" in the fictional country Honalee.

A 1978 cartoon special, Puff the Magic Dragon, fits the song. Was follow by two sequels, Puff and the Land of life lies, and Puff and the Incredible Mr. Nobody? In all three films Burgess Meredith Puff expression.
