Patrick Swayze was diagnose with pancreatic cancer in January 2008, and underwent chemotherapy and other treatments at the Stanford University Medical Center. Than after he also treated with Cyverknife radiotherapy cancer treatment.

Swayze says his habit of chain smoking, probably "had something to do with" the development of their disease. Images taken by a thin Swayze in the months before his death showed him to continue smoking. Swayze died with family at his side, "September 14, 2009 at the age of 57 years, twenty months after he suggested his diagnosticados.
